VINCENT ISAMBOURG

Technique: Oil on canvas

VINCENT ISAMBOURG

Vincent Isambourg was born in 1964 in Lille in the North of France where he studied visual arts. Often exhibited in Europe and Africa, his painting is figurative. He paints with oil on canvas. Over time his interpretation of the world and society around him has been forged exclusively on human representation. His faces seem to narrate stories of ephemeral encounters and are tinged with the paradoxes of relationships and the way people look at each other. His portraits, mainly of African women, draw their source from both reality and the artist's imagination and it is in the evanescence of memory that the characters are constructed.
His oil paintings sometimes seem to be splashes of paint, they offer ample touches of vivid colors sometimes erased or erased as the memory fades. The tones applied with a brush or sometimes with a sprayer emerge and are juxtaposed like memories of a moment.
More so than answers, his work wants to bring questions in front of the paradoxes of the states of mind, whether they are specific to the spectator, the model or the artist.
Vincent Isambourg created in 2010 a workshop of artistic expression within "Village Pilote" a Senegalese association that trains and brings in young people off the streets.
