TONI OKUJENI

Technique: Oil by knife on canvas

TONI OKUJENI

TONI OKUJENI obtained his National Graduate Diploma in Arts Education from the School of Art and Design, Auchi Polytechnic, in 1983. First he worked as an illustrator at the African Guardian Magazine before opening and working in his own studio full time.
TONI OKUJENI was inspired by the works of Vincent Van Gogh. At the School of Arts, his paintings had one of the richest palettes. His favorite subjects are roofs and congested markets, where the movement is translated by the heavy impasto of the palette knife, a technique that makes his works very popular.
He has participated in numerous exhibitions around the world in Nigeria, Morocco, France, and Senegal. His work is held in private and public collections.
