TAMPIDARO

Born in 1988 into a family of traditional dyers, Ibrahima Wone Bocoum grew up in Dakar's Médina district. At a very young age, he developed a passion for drawing and painting, creating his first canvases from fabrics and natural dyes collected in the family workshop. In 2004, he gave up his studies and tried his hand at carpentry, dressmaking and even supervising in a secondary school. 

In 2015, he officially launched his career as a self-taught painter. He joined the "Car Rapide" workshop to work alongside painter Saadio, perfecting his techniques, developing his own contemporary style and taking a professional look at the trade. His bold choice marked the beginning of a succession of exhibitions in and around Dakar. 

Tampidaro is inspired by what he observes, soaking up images of all kinds, photos, advertisements, modern and natural landscapes and crowd movements to represent them in chimerical form, constantly integrating an avant-garde, surrealist and poetic touch. 

He has taken part in several group exhibitions.
