MEISSA & BASSIROU FALL
Artist Meissa FALL, nicknamed "Fm", was born after independence in the former capital of French West Africa, inheriting a long family tradition linked to two wheels, going back to his paternal grandfather, a leading figure in the field.
At the age of eight, during the vacations, Meissa was introduced to the bicycle trade by his father, an experience that shaped his love for salvaging and recycling bicycle and motorcycle parts.
Making a living from his self-taught art, Meissa dreams of pedaling around the world while creating works to immortalize the soul and spirit of the bicycle.
Passing on his skills to his sons, Bassirou and Abdoulaye, he proudly perpetuates the family's artistic heritage.
Bassirou Fall, deeply influenced by his father's legacy, skilfully blends mechanics and sculpture to transcend art. Raised in his family's workshop in Saint-Louis, Senegal, he uses bicycles as his raw material, while exploring other raw materials such as jute sacks and "Malicanne" fabrics.
Although their artistic expressions differ, Meissa explores futuristic and extraterrestrial issues, while Bassirou raises awareness of social problems such as immigration and global warming, the two artists are united in their profound exploration of contemporary human challenges.
