MIMI

MIMI (Michelle MILESI) is a Sri Lankan artist based in Dakar since 2019. Her journey into art began in childhood. Self-taught mostly, she studied briefly at Wibavi fine art studio in Sri Lanka and later served as communication coordinator for a women’s art association, where she found inspiration from fellow artists.

MIMI's artistic versatility encompasses mediums like artist paper, canvas, and custom wall murals, using watercolor, acrylic, and oil paints along with collage techniques. In Senegal she created ART BOX, a studio/gallery offering art classes, workshops, and exhibitions, uniting local and international artists for creative experiences and bringing the joy of art to the community.

MIMI's art is predominantly inspired by women and global stories, aiming to educate and amuse viewers with vibrant narratives. She emphasizes delicate details, even in difficult subjects, to offer a positive perspective on life's beauty.

Active in the Dakar art scene since 2020, MIMI has participated in numerous collective exhibitions, including DWG art show for four consecutive years. Her latest collection for DWG art show 2024 intertwines individual stories with the captivating nature and colors of Senegal.
