MAKHONE DIOP

Makhone Issa Diop completed his apprenticeship under the watchful eye of his father Makhone Diop, who was the first to introduce artistic casting (the lost-wax technique) to Senegal. He completed his training with an advanced course at the Modern Pattern Foundry in Los Angeles (USA) and a study tour of traditional foundry techniques in Togo, Ghana and Nigeria. 

Makhone is a plastic artist and bronze sculptor at Village des Arts in Dakar, and a perfectionist with a keen eye for detail. He is also an ardent defender of African culture. 

He has taken part in numerous exhibitions, including the CréArts-Africa Contemporains show in Paris in 2019.
