SERIGNE MOR GUEYE

Technique: Sculpture on wood

SERIGNE MOR GUEYE

Serigne Mor GUEYE’s journey to become a sculptor is a long story of childhood and love, because Mor "fell into it when he was very small… the beautiful age,” he states.

He stopped his formal studies in high school, although he was doing quite well: but his mind was elsewhere. This elsewhere was precisely the playful learning (by playing) to create with the accessible materials of his immediate environment, simply because he was a resourceful teenager.

Afterwards, Mor entered technical training (with his brothers) at the school of his "big brother", an experienced sculptor, named Tafsir Momar GUEYE.

For nearly five (5) years, he learned more methodically and more seriously the rudiments of the profession of sculptor.

When he moved to the Village des Arts de Dakar, his work took off more intensely, in a setting even more conducive to creation and synergy, in a space dedicated to the production and confrontation of different, complementary or transversal artistic practices.

From 2001 to the present day, his reputation has been established, both nationally and internationally.
