YVES GUSELLA

Yves Gusella paints canvases inspired by the scenes and colors of Senegalese life.  The French-Italian-born painter became Senegalese by adoption.

After a successful career in Europe, Gusella fulfilled his childhood dream and enrolled at the Grenoble Fine Arts School at the age of 50 to begin an artistic career. Painting with a knife soon became his preferred medium, and he began to paint in large, flat oil strokes.

His motto: "Never stop capturing and trying to appropriate light and color and transpose them onto canvas".

He has been living in Senegal since 2011, where he taught art at a state school for five years. Today, he devotes himself exclusively to his artistic practice.
