DAOUDA BA

Born in Kaffrine in 1981, Daouda Ba graduated from the École Nationale des Arts de Dakar in 2005.

From nursery school onwards, artistic activities, and especially his taste for collage, ignited his interest in art. He uses materials salvaged from the slums, drawing inspiration from their ageing and discordant qualities. 

Daouda Ba is part of a generation of painters concerned with the social environment. He is accompanied in his sentiments by fellow painters and compatriots Sadji, Barkinado Bocoum and Magatte Touré. Together, they are part of AM'Art, an association of painters fighting against social injustice. He has been taking part in solo and group exhibitions in Dakar since 2003. 

Ba also works as an art and fashion design instructor at a craft training center.
