Events Committee
The DWG holds various types of events through the calendar year. The most anticipated Flagship Fundraising events are DWG’s Christmas Bazaar, The DWG Gala, The Annual Art Show and The Spring Fair. It is through these events that The DWG membership is fully engaged with Dakar communities.
The Events Committee is one of the most important committees within The DWG because they are responsible for organizing all main fundraising and social events throughout the year. These events are a huge undertaking and requires support from all volunteer members.
This is the committee that engages our membership community who contribute in the success of these events through volunteering, while supporting local artisans and artists. The Events Committee works very hard in raising as much money as possible not only to support our charity projects, but also to meet The DWG’s financial objectives.
Breast Cancer Awareness Event
LISCA has trained many midwives to detect the signs of cancer in women. They arrange screenings for women in rural areas.
LISCA have also helped lower the fees of testing and cancer treatment and offer palliative care to those who are suffering.
Christmas Bazaar 2022
This year our Annual DWG Christmas Bazaar had over 160 vendors.
Other events are for Networking and Socialising of our volunteer members. Those include clubs and classes, happy hours cocktails, themed gathering and coffee mornings. These events provide an opportunity for members to meet and greet, get to know each other, create friendships and collaborative, co-creative relationships.
White Christmas Party 2022
Over 40 tickets were sold, over reaching our goal.
Gala 2023
Over 100 tickets sold.
All DWG members are welcome to send us suggestions for networking ideas and gathering and things to try. Judging by the extent of the events on the calendar year the events volunteer members are easily overwhelmed, so, any gathering suggestions or assistance from the membership is welcome.
