IBRAHIMA GNINGUE

Ibrahima Gningue is a painter, art teacher and graduate of the École Nationale des Arts de Dakar. The artist, of Lebou origin and resident in Bargny, draws his inspiration from social, cultural and ethnic scenes, and works most on the clothing of Lebou women, with those of the Goumbé and Ndawrasquine dancers, choreographed with a balanced overall movement of arms, body and feet. The faces of his white-painted characters are reminiscent of the alabaster faces grimaced during the Tadjébone, a typical Senegalese carnival.

Ibrahima Gningue is an artist who has taken part in numerous exhibitions and projects in Africa and Europe, and received awards for his work.
