ASSANE GNING

Born in 1966 in Thiès. Assane Gning is a self-taught artist who studied calligraphy. He is also a member of the Association des Artistes peintres du Sénégal. His painting is influenced by naive and coaster art. He draws his inspiration from everyday life.

His works have been exhibited both in Senegal and abroad. He has taken part in various group exhibitions, including those at La Médiathèque de Persan in Picardy, the Musée International de l'Art Naïf in Nice and the Musée Africain in Korea.  He was awarded the Prix d'Europe d'Art Primitif in Switzerland. His works are sold all over the world. 

Assane Gning lives and works at the Village des Arts in Dakar.
