AMADOU DIENG

"I do not create so-called 'African' paintings; I am an African who paints."

Amadou Dieng was born in 1951 in the Medina of Dakar. He has exhibited his works in Senegal (National Gallery, la Galerie des Artistes Réunis), Switzerland (International Sculpture Symposium in Morges, Rote Fabric in Zurich), Morocco (Assilah Festival), and contributed to the set design of films such as "Hyènes" by Djibril Diop Mambety and "Yadikone" by Lamine Seck. He is a resident at the Village des Arts in Dakar.

Being self-taught, he paints without preconceptions, allowing colors and creations to flow freely. However, he states: "To start in disorder and finish in order, I do not make the visible; I make it VISIBLE."
